about me:
My Journey as a Practitioner and How I Became an Acupuncturist
I have always been fascinated by human thoughts and behaviours, which led me to study a degree in Psychology and Sociology and later complete a postgraduate degree in teaching.
I spent seven years teaching, a role I loved, until I became pregnant with my first child, during which time my migraines became unmanageable.
Since the age of sixteen, I had suffered from debilitating migraines—the kind that left me unable to see or speak properly and would affect me for days afterward. During pregnancy, I began seeking alternative ways to manage my symptoms, which led me to discover acupuncture. With no preconceptions or prior knowledge, I sought help—and my wonderful acupuncturist helped me gain control over my migraines, and remarkably, they have remained that way ever since.
Throughout my pregnancy, she continued to support me through various challenges. By the time I was preparing for my second child, I sought acupuncture treatment before and during pregnancy, which resulted in another incredibly positive experience. Over the past ten years, as my children have grown, I have continued to return to my practitioner whenever I needed support.
These experiences opened my eyes to the power of acupuncture and how it can deeply improve a person’s quality of life. I became so inspired that I decided to retrain, undertaking a BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture, where I graduated with First-Class Honours and received the Clinical Excellence Award.
My passion lies particularly in women’s health—an area that combines both my academic background and personal experience. I have published research in the European Journal of Oriental Medicine (EJOM) on the use of acupuncture for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), and I continue to focus my advanced training on fertility, pre- and post-natal care, and women’s health conditions such as endometriosis.
In March 2025, I opened The Moorlands Acupuncture Clinic—a warm and welcoming space where people can take time to reset, restore, and focus on their wellbeing. My aim is to provide compassionate support, creating a place where patients can retreat to focus on their health and wellbeing.
I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the UK’s largest professional body for traditional acupuncturists, and registered with the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), which ensures public protection through oversight of healthcare professionals. I am also a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network, which recognises practitioners who meet high standards of training and safe practice.
